ATS tips for the same CV × job check
ResumeCaliper does not run a separate layout, keyword, job-title, or section-name checker. You use the same funnel as every other tool page: paste one job description, upload the CV you already have, and review one scorecard — overall fit, category bars (including an ATS readability heuristic on the text your browser extracted), gaps vs the posting, and a downloadable tailored single-column PDF. This page explains that result through an ATS lens; it is not a different product surface.
Analyze your CV for this role
One CV + one job description: fit score, category bars (including an ATS readability heuristic), gaps, and a tailored single-column PDF. Not a separate ATS report UI.
Analyze my CVSame product, ATS-focused guidance
Every ResumeCaliper check is one CV + one job description. There is no dedicated ATS report, no separate keyword scanner UI, and no layout-only pass.
What you see in the app after analysis:
- Fit score — how well you match this role overall (JD × CV content)
- Category bars — skills, experience, education, domain, languages, structure/clarity, and an ATS readability heuristic based on the selectable text your browser extracted
- Gaps and suggested edits — what is missing or underplayed vs the posting
- Tailored CV — a downloadable single-column PDF rewritten for that role from experience you already have
What ATS systems actually do
Most ATS tools extract the text from your PDF or DOCX and match it against the job description. That means:
- Multi-column layouts can scramble the reading order
- Icons and graphics often disappear
- Text inside images is never read
- Synonyms may not match unless you use the posting’s own wording
Our ATS readability bar is a heuristic, not a claim that you will pass a specific employer’s system.
ATS myths vs reality
| Myth | Reality |
|---|---|
| “PDFs always fail” | Most ATS read clean, text-based PDFs without trouble |
| “Stuffing in keywords helps” | Keywords you can’t back up will hurt you in the interview |
| “A creative design stands out” | It often breaks text extraction |
| “ResumeCaliper has a separate ATS checker UI” | It doesn’t — ATS guidance is the same analysis with different emphasis |
After the check
Fix the gaps that matter, download the tailored CV from the same result, and read every line before you apply. Want the rewrite framing? See the resume tailor — still the same funnel.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a separate ATS checker product?
No. It’s the same CV + job description analysis as the resume checker. This page highlights parsing risk and ATS-oriented tips; the app UI is one scorecard with category bars (including ATS readability), gaps, and a tailored CV download.
Will a fancy designed CV fail ATS?
Often, yes. Multi-column layouts and text inside images are hard for parsers to read. For online applications, a clean text-based CV is the safer choice.
Do you guarantee I pass every ATS?
No tool can promise that. We improve your structure and your fit with the job description you provide. ATS readability is a heuristic, not a pass/fail from a specific employer system.
