AI transparency notice
Plain-language information about the AI system behind ResumeCaliper, provided under the EU AI Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689) and GDPR Art. 13(2)(f).
Last updated: 24 September 2026.
You are interacting with an AI system
ResumeCaliper is an AI system. When you run a check, an artificial-intelligence model — not a human reviewer — reads your CV and the job description, estimates the match, writes the suggestions and, on request, drafts your improved CV and cover letter. Every Output you receive from the Service is AI-generated.
This is a personal optimisation tool for candidates. The Service does not make employment decisions, nor does it guarantee or influence hiring processes by employers. Outputs are shown only to you.
Who provides the system
The AI system is provided by Arseniy Rusentsov (ResumeCaliper), established in Spain. It is built on large language models accessed through the OpenAI API (GPT-4o-class models). OpenAI supplies the general-purpose model; ResumeCaliper designs the instructions, the anonymisation, the scoring structure and the document generation.
What the AI does
- Reads the job description and derives the requirements, must-have and nice-to-have criteria.
- Compares the anonymised CV text with those criteria and produces an overall fit score and category scores (skills, experience, education, domain knowledge, language) on a 0–100 scale, with written reasons and improvement suggestions.
- On request, rewrites your CV to better match the job and drafts a cover letter, using only facts present in your source CV. The model is instructed not to invent employers, degrees, skills or achievements.
What the AI does not do
- It does not make or support hiring, rejection or ranking decisions for employers. The result is shown only to you.
- It does not rank you against other candidates and is not used for recruitment or selection of anyone.
- It does not guarantee or influence hiring processes by employers, and it does not guarantee that any employer's applicant-tracking system (ATS) will accept your CV or that you will get an interview; employer systems and recruiters use their own criteria.
- It does not learn from your CV: ResumeCaliper does not train models on your data, and OpenAI's API terms exclude API data from model training.
- It does not perform facial recognition or any biometric analysis on an optional photo, which is used only for the layout of the generated PDF.
Limits you should know
- Scores are estimates. Large language models can misread text, miss context, hallucinate or reflect biases present in their training data. The same CV can receive somewhat different scores on different runs.
- The quality of the analysis depends on the text we can extract. Upload a digital CV with selectable text (PDF, Word, or TXT). Photos and scans of paper CVs are not supported in the default hybrid flow.
- Generated text may be inaccurate or unsuitable for your situation. Review every line before you apply. You remain responsible for the accuracy of what you send to an employer.
- ResumeCaliper does not currently offer a human review of results; you can contact the operator if you believe an Output is wrong or harmful and ResumeCaliper will look into it.
Privacy safeguards in the AI pipeline
Default (hybrid): your browser replaces detected personal names, e-mail addresses, phone numbers, personal profile URLs and common ID patterns with placeholders; you review the cleaned text before upload. ResumeCaliper’s servers run Article 9 wording checks and a light one-way contact/ID re-scrub, then send anonymised text to OpenAI. The contact restore map stays in your browser for the client-built PDF — it is not stored on ResumeCaliper servers. Employers, dates, locations, skills and free text are kept because the analysis needs them. Requests are sent with store=false; OpenAI may retain API data for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, then deletes it. Special categories of data (GDPR Art. 9) and identity documents are not allowed: anonymisation does not detect or remove that meaning in free text, automated wording checks stop the run when they suspect it, and you confirm before each analysis that the file contains none. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
EU AI Act position
- Role: ResumeCaliper designs and operates the product AI system that wraps a general-purpose model from OpenAI; you use the system to work on your own application materials (in AI Act terms this is typically a deployer/user relationship for the wrapped GPAI model — exact roles can depend on the facts and may be reviewed with counsel).
- Risk classification (ResumeCaliper's assessment): for the intended purpose described here — helping a job seeker improve their own CV against a job description, with Outputs shown only to that person — ResumeCaliper assesses that the system is not operated as a high-risk AI system under Annex III (which addresses AI intended for recruitment or selection of natural persons on behalf of employers). Use for hiring or screening decisions is prohibited by the Terms. ResumeCaliper does not intend the system for Article 5 prohibited practices (such as social scoring or emotion recognition in the workplace). This is not a legal certification; Spanish/EU counsel should confirm the classification before you rely on it, and ResumeCaliper keeps the assessment under review if the purpose, models or law change.
- Transparency obligations (Article 50): ResumeCaliper informs you that you are interacting with an AI system and that Outputs are AI-generated (this notice, the in-app AI notice and the generated-content disclaimer).
- Cover letters — Art. 50(2) machine-readable marker. Cover letter PDFs embed a machine-readable marker in their metadata (Subject / Keywords / Creator) identifying them as AI-generated, because the letter is new synthetic text drafted for the application.
- Improved CVs — why no Art. 50(2) PDF marker. Improved CV PDFs are an AI-assisted rewrite of your source CV: the model may only reorganise and rephrase facts already in your materials and must not invent employers, degrees, skills or achievements. ResumeCaliper therefore treats the CV PDF as assistive editing of an existing document and does not apply the Art. 50(2) PDF metadata marker used for cover letters. Transparency for the CV is met through this notice, the Privacy Policy and the in-app AI disclosure — not through that PDF info-dictionary marker. This is a product design assessment, not a legal certification.
- AI literacy (Article 4): the people operating ResumeCaliper follow an internal AI-literacy policy covering the capabilities and limits of the models, prompt-injection risks and the handling of user data.
- Human oversight: you review and decide what to do with every Output; nothing is sent to an employer by the Service.
ResumeCaliper will update this notice if the intended purpose, the models or the law change.
